AJPA Updates and Initiatives

AJPA is always busy invigorating our membership benefits,
boosting our freelancers’ profiles, and continuing our helpful webinar series. These benefits are in addition to our prestigious annual Simon Rockower Awards for Excellence in Jewish Journalism competition and our top-notch conference, a high-power setting to recharge and garner best practices from our colleagues.

In short, we’re continuing to work hard to create a value-based association for both current and prospective members. Below you’ll find the current initiatives of the AJPA:
  1. Provide more time for members to network with one another at AJPA conferences.

  2. Improve AJPA’s use of social media as a tool to benefit our members and to market/promote our association. If you are interested in leading this initiative, please contact Desirae Barquin at

  3. Promote active member use of our editorial, business, story and freelance group blogs.

  4. Provide recommended guidelines for Jewish media organizations when dealing with freelancers.

  5. Promote member freelancers via our website and Facebook page.

  6. Cultivate members to become leaders of AJPA.

  7. Continue to improve AJPA conference programming to provide skill building techniques and form new and improved relationships that can help member's businesses thrive when they return from the conference.
If you have suggestions for additional initiatives to pursue, ideas about how we can best meet the initiatives above, and/or if you’re interested in volunteering for any of these, please contact AJPA's President Craig Burke.
